This is the journey of a mother and her child who go on Adventurez In Mexico. They explore, learn and discover all they can about Mexican culture. #AdventurezInMexico @AdventurezinMexicoFB · Education website
Well we went to check out the Jazz fest but they were just practicing and setting up. It sounded like it was going to be GREAT! Would love to go but heard it is really hard to get back to Zipolite with so many people and so we just went and returned in the afternoon. We went down to the beach and wandered around. The water was beautiful. Big waves came up on the beach and Mother Ocean urged us in but we just couldn't. She cooled us off though and we were grateful. There is a lovely spa there, maybe we will go get a manicure or pedicure. Here are the photos I took
Yesterday we celebrated the Dia de Muertos, also known as Dia los Angelitos.
Here is Mexico it is a 3 day celebration. It is a very ancient tradition about love and respect and honoring your loved ones that have passed on to the spiritual world. It has nothing to do with Halloween. It is the opposite in so many ways.
"Scholars trace the origins of the modern Mexican holiday to indigenous observances dating back hundreds of years and to an Aztecfestival dedicated to the goddessMictecacihuatl. The holiday has spread throughout the world, being absorbed into other deep traditions in honor of the dead." read more here
Frances Ann Day summarizes the three-day celebration, the Day of the Dead:
“
On October 31, All Hallows Eve, the children make a children's altar to invite the angelitos
(spirits of dead children) to come back for a visit. November 1 is All
Saints Day, and the adult spirits will come to visit. November 2 is All
Souls Day, when families go to the cemetery to decorate the graves and
tombs of their relatives. The three-day fiesta is filled with marigolds,
the flowers of the dead; muertos (the bread of the dead); sugar
skulls; cardboard skeletons; tissue paper decorations; fruit and nuts;
incense, and other traditional foods and decorations.
Here are some of the things we did and saw!
We had hot chocolate and pan de muerte with our amiga and then we went to the Dia de Muertos Festival at the Calavera Social Club for the 6th Annual Dia de Muertos Festival.

We
also visited amigos and saw the beautiful altars/arcos they made. It's a
very special time. Sadly one of Zipolite's beloved members passed away
and so the town was grieving. I send love and light and my deepest
condolences to all the family and friends and to all those that are
missing loved ones.
