How are you? So it was a beautiful sunset tonight. I just tell you a bit about my day and then I have to get to work on something. Firstly I got stung by a bee the other day. Ouch! And I have issues with stings and bites so luckily I had bought some bendryl when I got here just in case. And there is always a just in case, so very grateful I had it. Somehow when I grabbed for the tea towel there was this horrible burning and I saw the stinger and pulled out. I didn't know what bit or stung me and called for Angel. Thankfully she helped get me the bendryl and I have a fridge. So so grateful for my little fridge and I had some frozen strawberries in a little carton so used that to ice my hand. Been quite itching and was very painful to start but it's been 2 days and it's feeling much better. Angel pointed out it was a bee. I was buzzing around the light. Thankfully nothing else...like a scorpion or spider. So grateful for that too!
Went to Pochutla today and bought a few groceries. The camionetas are really long to wait for. There are only 3 for Zipolite right now and well I always end up waiting at least a half hour. Mexican people have such patience but they have no choice. On the way back we splurged and shared a collectivo. Right now we are pretty low on cash. I am not allowed to work here and the client I have had for over a year now, her contract is ending and well I need to find new clients. So that is my project tonight. Make a page offering my services for social media, web design and graphics, photography and such things.
Other than that, the rent is paid and we have groceries, we are living is a lovely little place and have lots of great friends to visit and more people that we know from our visits before are arriving so that is lots of fun. Of course I miss some friends and family at home but very grateful for the internet and being able to keep in touch. Aren't we so blessed. Not like my first journey's here when a phone call was all we could do ...once in a blue moon because it was really expensive. ..Remember those, you bought a card and called home for like 5 minutes and it was 50 pesos or something.
Cleaned my house ...well my room and kitchen tonight. I made a bunch of smoothie things out of pineapple and orange juice and banana and strawberries...all stuff that needed to be cleaned up as the power was out for a bit yesterday. A transformer or something near or in one of the restaurants caught fire. I bought ice and put it in the fridge and covered it with sweaters and sarongs to keep the cold in. Today our landlord kindly gave us little tiny bananas and this other fruit he said it's from the mountains..granada I think...have to look it up. Going to try that later. Anyways, I am set up for fruit for my smoothies...all frozen in little plastic containers I can easily pop in my bullet. So glad I bought my bullet. It's awesome. Small enough to travel with and super handy for nice little frozen drinks.
You can't just make ice here. Well you can, in a bag but not in ice cube trays, unless you put the whole thing in a bag because the water from the freezer is not clean and it will get on your ice cubes and you can get sick...you have to think one step a head here with everything. So I put all my juice in a plastic container with a lid and then freeze and then put it in my bullet and make the smoothie like that. Hope that's a helpful tip for some of you.
Okay, must go. Here's the gorgeous sunset from tonight. So blessed, it really was special. Check it out. I didn't edit these other than make them smaller. Buenos Noches!
Oh P.S. Still have the odd battle with the ants but I will tell you about it another time! Maybe going to make a comic about it. Will see!
