Trip up to Oaxaca City 2018-Photos #1

Hola Amigos. Lo siento por not posting more. I have been taking a little break and well didn't have time to post many photos. We went to Oaxaca City for a few days to celebrate my birthday. It's quite the journey. The van is about 5- 6hrs and it's really curvy. We took Dramamine, it helped alot.

Oaxaca was a lot of fun. I love walking around and exploring all the places I used to visit. It was fun to have lunch in the Zocalo. I was so happy to buy some drawing paper and I got a back loom and treated myself  to two very pretty dresses that I will treasure forever.

Angel had lots of fun too! I spoiled her with some new clothes and a few accessories, just little things and we drank lots of hot chocolate and looked in lots of stores that they don't have here.

So here are some photos, more to come of our tour we took. Sadly it was cut short because of some problems but it was still fun to visit El Tule, the Teotitlan Rug Museo and the Mezcal Museo where we got to see how Mezcal is made and taste some. That was fun. Seeing how the rugs are made is fascinating too! So stay tuned for more Adventurez In Mexico

Semana Santa/Easter-Santa Domingo Church in Oaxaca City 2010

Blog post by Tina Winterlik © 2011

Last Year we celebrated Easter/Semana Santa/Holy Week in Oaxaca City Mexico

During the week before Easter Sunday we enjoyed long walks thru the market, zocalo and up to Santa Domingo - a gorgeous 500 year old church that is covered in gold.

We bought up beautiful religious ornaments that the local indigenous people create.

Then I made an altar in my room.

I was supposed to take it all and get it blessed but felt shy and tired from the heat, and well we just didn't.

On Easter Sunday, Angel and I went to Santa Domingo and sat thru part of the mass, she was fidgeting so we left, but it was a wonderful experience. One I will never forget.

Semana Santa-Holy Week in Oaxaca City Mexico 2010

Blog post by Tina Winterlik © 2011

http://tinawinterlik.blogspot.com

We had the greatest time in Oaxaca City last year. We got to stay 17 days. We were very very blessed.

It was a really special time. It was an opportunity for both Angel and I to learn about Mexican traditions and to celebrate Easter in a different way than we had in the passed.

We met old friends and made lots new ones.

We visited Santa Domingo,  a 500 year old church and Monte Alban - the famous Oaxacan Ruins and visited El Tule- a 2000 year old tree.

We learned how chocolate was made and we drank LOT of chocolate milk.

We bought wonderful souvenirs, hand made and hand embroidered velvet tops, pottery, green and black. We hung out in the Zocalo and saw parades. We got fresh fruit from the market everyday and had fresh squeezed orange juice everyday. Yum! We had the best time. I really miss it!

So I just made the video you saw, I'm improving all the time, below is a video that was made last summer, when  I came home. I used Animoto , I really loved them, but it's really nice to make your own videos, so stay turned.

Join Adventurez in Mexico as we watch a parade in the Zocalo, we buy some Almond Treats and check out the activities as they prepare for Semana Santa

Mexican Souvenirs

Blog post by Tina Winterlik © 2011

These are some of the beautiful souvenirs we brought home from Oaxaca. We bought alot of chocolate, but ate almost all of it before we got home. We had Hot Chocolate every day for breakfast. It was delicious.

We spent 17 days in Oaxaca. It was fantastic. I feel so blessed that we experienced it. We loved walking up to Santa Domingo each day, exploring the area. We visited Monte Alban and saw parades and watch the Silent Procession during Semana Santa, an incredibly moving experience.

Angel loved it, she learned where chocolate came from and it was the highlight of the day going in and having a little sample. The markets are easy to get to and the Zocalo is beautiful. Lots of gorgeous architecture, especially the church. The Cathedral in the Zocalo has beautiful windows with angels etched in them.

The handmade embroidered clothes are breath taking and so are the rugs and wooden toys. There is so much to see in Oaxaca. I highly recommend you all visit Oaxaca City.
