I just hope to take advantage of solar power on a small scale, I think that's where everything goes wrong. Massive farms, massive windmill farms, massive clear cuts, flooding for dams, digging massive pits for mines. Why can't we just keep things smallscale.
My friend had her house done in Bucerias and in 4 years it's supposed to pay itself off and start paying her back. My dream is that we could do something like that in Zipolite. If we could build community gardens and cob houses and composting and pop bottle greenhouses. There's lots of examples here. http://pinterest.com/zipolita/
That's what I would like to try to help with. It's a dream I'm working on. Want to help? If I start an Indiegogo campaign will anyone help.?
Maybe I'll just put a donate button...

Edible Schoolyards and Cob housing- Change Makers Competition
Tweet
So I entered a competition a while ago. I just wanted to share this idea with everyone really and so I am posting it again here and who knows. I hope you like it and will give it serious thought.

Create an Edible Schoolyard at the local school, convert the playing field and adjacent streets to greenhouses. Teach the children to grow, harvest, market, cook, measure, the food they produce. Feed the children in the school healthy organic meals. Sell produce to local restaraunts. Produce soaps, organic creams and lotions and sell those to community, have community kitchen and feed the community. In places such as Vancouver the housing exists but is very expensive but with the children and community working together, costs of food, education, would go down.
In Latin America focus on building small Cob houses and apply the Edible Schoolyard Principle. In Vancouver BC Canada, take advantage of surrounding buildings to house a Performing Arts Center that encourages dance, music, and art. I realize this is putting the cart before the horse, but if children learn how to provide for themselves and are taught to be Masters of Empathy and Changemakers they will have the answers on how to build sustainable housing in cities.

I also believe that by working together in the gardens they will realize that less is more and be happy in smaller accomodations with less needs and so the next generation will require less and give more.

Edible Schoolyards and Cob housing
Well I was so inspired by the webcasts on the Social Entrepreneur Empowerment Series that I have been listening to and since there was a competition I thought I would at least try and enter.
So you can read my idea here. I hope you like it and that I inspire you. Like the song says...Dreams can come true, they can happen to you...if your young at heart.

Transform schools into Edible Schoolyards, teaching children to grow beautiful gardens, harvest and market the food they produce. By working side by side become Mentally and Physically Strong, and United. Teach children to feed themselves and to build community, and with these tools they will figure out how to build sustainable housing whether it be cob houses or other types of housing, but whatever type it will be environmentally friendly to their community and they will know how to live in harmony from their experience and education nurturing their environment in their Edible Schoolyard. In addition to the Edible Schoolyard there would be markets, and Performing Art Centers, where arts would be embraced, thus adding to healthy minds and spirits.
