Here's our visit to the Cultural Museum in Oaxaca in February 2013. I thought I had put up a video for this but guess it got overlooked when we got home as I had so many others to get up.

Here it is in all it's 8 minutes of glory!! The gardens are especially beautiful but the architecture and then all the displays...really is amazing.

I feel so blessed that we were able to visit and that I could share such an important part of my daughter's history with her.

I just hope to take advantage of solar power on a small scale, I think that's where everything goes wrong. Massive farms, massive windmill farms, massive clear cuts, flooding for dams, digging massive pits for mines. Why can't we just keep things smallscale.

My friend had her house done in Bucerias and in 4 years it's supposed to pay itself off and start paying her back. My dream is that we could do something like that in Zipolite. If we could build community gardens and cob houses and composting and pop bottle greenhouses. There's lots of examples here. http://pinterest.com/zipolita/

That's what I would like to try to help with. It's a dream I'm working on. Want to help? If I start an Indiegogo campaign will anyone help.?

Maybe I'll just put a donate button...

We saw this beautiful Mexican dance performance when we were in Puerto Angel, Oaxaca. I just love the dance as it tells a romantic story. I also heard the man dancing has been deaf since birth. It's an amazing sweet dance to watch. I would like Angel to learn this dance one day. I know she would be very good at it.  To see more videos click here

Save the Punta Colorada in Puerto Escondido -Oaxaca

Save the Colorada- This is what I saw posted today on Facebook. Apparently they are trying to put a cruise ship terminal near beach in Puerto Escondido. This saddens me so much. I understand how they want to improve the economy for the locals but from what I have seen cruise ships destroy so much. They make the prices so high that everyone has a hard time. The locals become hugely depended on the tourist and when that happens it's a bad thing. If the cruise ships don't show up due to weather or some other reason (last year there were issues related drug cartels and tourist safety) then what happens to the people. This was a big problem for Zihuatengo. When the US economy melted down and they were not cruising the people really felt it. We know at we visited and we were really disappointed with some experiences and it was explained to us it's because the cruiseships have such a huge impact.

Playa del Carmen is a good example, at one time it was just a tiny place now apparently it is completely different.

Obviously people want to enjoy the area as it's beautiful...but you don't need 1600 people going there on a regular basis, which is what happens when a cruiseship comes in. Not to mention all the oil and toxins and garbage that comes with all those tourist.

Please say no to cruiseship development in this area.  Sign the petition and  SHARE-make sure people are talking about it as it's the first I have heard. My Spanish is not the best but with Bing translator I figured it out. Please use your voice and do what you can.

I believe people need to get back in touch with their roots, connect to the land, build cob house, raised bed gardens, pop bottle green house, grow their own vegetable, fruit and chickens and fish from the ocean. Stop buying so many material possessions. Where they live IS PARADISE. Let people come and visit but not on a cruiseship.

This is my vision board, lots of good ideas here for a simpler life...off the grid...
 Translated with Bing

We agree that already finished this road which will shorten the time to handle Oaxaca hither, we don't know how many trees and wildlife cost but already, now that they finish it.

We agree that reach Puerto Escondido INTERJET, this is wonderful news, it's very good service, we strongly recommend it.

BUT:

We cannot agree with a dock in Puerto Escondido, inter alia for two important reasons:

1.-It is a place made by the nature of big waves and strong currents.

2. The concept of Puerto Escondido tourism mind speaking it is rustic, cosmopolitan, and people coming like that, we can do a survey with the thousands of people who know port and we will know that this is what you think, and therefore come. There must be a variety of colors, shapes and flavors on our beaches of Mexico and not only 5 star hotels and luxury cruises.

We agree that Punta Colorada is named as ecological reserve which could be the only remaining within the city of Puerto Escondido and therefore, we must protect it, seek another option for that dock.

Of course we agree with economic growth of Puerto Escondido, but it should be way more intelligent, harmonious, cultural, educational, ecological, sportsman and sustainable.

For the children of Puerto Escondido and the future of Mexico.
