The SNIPSISTERS organized two free Spay and Neuter Clinics in the rural Mexican towns of Zimatan and Cuatunalco in December of 2011….and then 2 more clinics in Dec 2012 in Coyula and again in Cuatunalco, with animals coming from the surrounding towns of Las Palmas and El Coyote.

All these communities are near the resort town of Huatulco.

Teaming up with 2 vets and 2 techs from Peace Mexico and a handful of caring volunteers, 237 dogs and cats were spayed and neutered in a total of 8 days in 2011, and 190 more animals were done at the 2012 clinic.

It all began in December of 2010, when SnipSisters Heidi Wagner and Shelagh O’Brien decided to humanely tackle the overpopulation of dogs and cats in the Huatulco area. It is not common in these rural communities to have any companion animals sterilized and it is simply not affordable. As well no Mexican Government programs exist to humanely deal with this issue.

Only a few of these dogs/cats are owned by the people living in these rural communities; the rest are left to fend for themselves, they die from trauma, starvation or disease.

All the dogs/cats in the rural communities live a very free life, they are not in yards, on leashes etc., so when females come into heat, the likely hood of them becoming pregnant is very high.

100% of the funds we raise are used to pay for all medical supplies as well as the Vet Team’s travel expense from Puerto Vallarta to Huatulco. Our goal is to continue running FREE spay/neuter clinics in December of each year, moving from community to community.
