New Years Resolutions

Well normally I don't make New Years Resolutions, but this year I have the urge. Downsize, Organize, Re-invent, Popularize,  these words all come to mind of things I want to work on this year.

We moved and have put down roots and now I feel the need to really start fresh. We will see. Today is a beautiful day here in Vancouver, but I miss Mexico. I will miss the Karma Cleansing in Zipolite at Shambhala tonight, and that's sad.

We had the most wonderful times there the last two years. I really have no desire to do anything this year. With so much going on before and over the holidays, I feel the need for calm.

So we will just breathe deep and make wishes and say a little prayer for all our loved ones to stay safe and that we all enjoy a beautiful 2011. May we blessed with peace and prosperity and love and may the opportunity to travel and learn present itself again when we are ready, willing and able.

Most of all, that this time I can share in way that really can reach out and enlighten the masses. I haven't figured that one out yet, so I hope that this New Year Resolution materializes, and soon.

Happy New Year's Everyone!!

Feeding the Iguana Blue Flowers in Zipolite

I just LOVE this photo. Angel was feeding the Iguana (wild but protected-while on Shambhala land)blue flowers. It was just a fluke, as I remember once I had fed a little white flower to a small lizard on Ohm Beach. So I told Angel, grab a blue flower and it worked. Turned out the iguana was pregnant and she didn't want to leave her nest under the walk. So it worked out great. A wonderful magical experience!

Merry Christmas Zipolite & Gracias Charlotte

Charlotte & John were Santa's helpers the 2 winters we spent in Zipolite. Charlotte is a MASTER AT TYE DYE!! She made these two awesome shirts. THANKS SO MUCH CHARLOTTE! They are beautiful. Muchas Gracias to you both.

Projections for the New Year!!

Well, who would have thought that they would chose Fabio to win Survivor!

I'll tell you though, that scene when he's hopping around with the thorn in his foot, I related to that...I have been there. When you in a strange environment all sorts of crazy things happen. I'm so happy he won. He seems like such an earthy wholesome dude...he's totally fit in in Zipolite.

My plan was for us to visit Central America this year, Honduras was definitely on the list, but it hasn't come together. Obviously the Universe has something else in mind for us.

So while a tad sad, and missing friends, family and gorgeous beach and sunsets, I must dream and PROJECT FORWARD!! Something is coming, great and positive things are around the corner, and we must go with the flow and keep projecting, because we've been thru the lows and the highs are about to flow. My life is a rollercoaster...it can be darn scary, but it's filled with miracles.

Going to Zipolite and living there for 5 months, 2 years in a row, NOW THAT'S A MIRACLE!
If you knew how little we survived on and If you knew all the wonderous things that happened to us...THAT'S A MIRACLE! THOSE WERE MIRACLES!

While I'm sad our plans for this year didn't pan out, I can only believe that God and the Universe have a greater plan for us and we just have to wait and see what it is. We learned so much, and I know while Angel may not remember alot of it, that she was impacted deeply by so much, by the environment, the people, the love, the beauty, we had really wonderful special incredible life changing experiences, and so we give thanks for those. I hope that you can experience similar experiences. I pray that your lives can be enriched the way ours were.

Blessing to you all, Blessing to all of us, that we are blessed with Miracles and can run and play and be free, the way you can in Zipolite. Merry Christmas and Feliz Navidad. Muchos Besos, Paz y Amor Amigos.

We will see you again...soon I hope and Pray and Project!!

Shine!! And NEVER take Anything for Granted!!

I miss Zipolite So Much!! When you live there for 5 months, you take the beauty for granted, and when you are so blessed and fortunate to return a 2nd year in a row...oh, for shame, I took this wonderful miracle for granted.

I appreciated but it's true, while it was a struggle, somehow I really feel I did not appreciate this miracle as much as I SHOULD HAVE!! I really miss you Zipolite.

I pray we will return soon. For all of you there, ENJOY!! Every blessed minute, it really is such a magical place...especially the Meditation Point, as all the wonderful little experiences...and fabulous people.
Take care, Paz y Amor, Angel y Tina :)

The Little Drummer Boy!

Feliz Navidad!

If you see my reflection in the snow covered hills

I took my love, I took it down
Climbed a mountain and I turned around
And I saw my reflection in the snow covered hills
'Till the landslide brought me down

Oh, mirror in the sky
What is love?
Can the child within my heart rise above?
Can I sail through the changing ocean tides?
Can I handle the seasons of my life?

Well, I've been afraid of changing
'Cause I've built my life around you
But time makes you bolder
Even children get older
And I'm getting older too

Ah, take my love, take it down
Ah, climb a mountain and I turned around
And if you see my reflection in the snow covered hills
Well, the landslide will bring it down

And if you see my reflection in the snow covered hills
Well, the landslide will bring it down
Oh, oh, the landslide will bring it down

Watching Jack Frost this evening! Very silly show! Good Music though!!

Dancing to the Drums in Zipolite!

Here is my Wild Child dancing her heart out to the drums. This was in November/December 2008. I love this video!

Christmas 2008 Zipolite Oaxaca Mexico

Consider a Christmas like this for your kids!

Christmas Eve Day 2008

Chrismtas Day 2008

Angel said it was the "Best Christmas Ever!" and yet she got less than she had any other Christmas. It really was a wonderful Christmas, so simple and not all the commercials and stress that often happens before. It was just very simple, calm and peaceful! What more could you ask for!

McDonald's sued over Happy Meals- I LOVE THIS!!

Finally someone is going to stand up to this crap!! Angel has never eaten at McDonalds, I taught her early on that the in my opinion French Fries are like putting plastic into your heart.

This is how I explained transfats. For years people thought I was crazy because I just thought French Fries were so toxic. But hey listen if plastic is actually made from oil that it doesn't take rocket science to figure out that deep-frying changes the molecular structure of it and well it's definitely not something God intended us to eat. You don't see animals eating it.

Big Mac's and all those other awful meals, so unhealthy for you and then they target the kids by trying to get them to eat their "Happy Meals" so they can have the toys.(What if we renamed them "Heart Attack Meals" - or Diabetes Meal..)  not so "Happy" then.

Actually Angel has had the toys, she gets them from a friend who eats there, despite my warnings.

Anyways so here is this great attempt to get the evil marketing people behind this. Shame, Shame, Shame is all I can say...and boy is your karma bad.

Here's part of the article below and then just follow the link at the bottom to read more. I just read that MacDonalds plans to double it's stores in China. Yikes!

McDonald's sued over Happy Meals

A consumer protection group filed a class-action suit against McDonald's Wednesday morning, claiming the toys included in Happy Meals bait and induce children to develop a preference for nutritionally poor foods.

The suit was filed by the Center for Science in the Public Interest on behalf of Monet Parham of Sacramento, Calif., and her six-year-old daughter Maya.

"McDonald's exploits very young California children and harms their health by advertising unhealthy happy meals with toys directly to them," the suit states.

"Children eight years-old and younger do not have the cognitive skills and the developmental maturity to understand the persuasive intent of marketing and advertising," the suit continues, "Thus, McDonald's advertising featuring toys to bait children violates California law because it is inherently deceptive and unfair."

Carla Rieger- The Art of Re-Invention

I wanted to thank my friend Rebecca Coleman http://www.rebeccacoleman.ca for sharing this with me, it's so wonderful. This is Carla Rieger and she gives a wonderful talk and everything she says is so pertinent to what I have been saying about the school system, creativity and life experiences. It's very interesting and I hope you will listen to all of it. It's 12 minutes, but it's definitely worth it!

Zipolite Art

Cacti by Tina Winterlik 2001
If you have never visited this website before you should, the web designer was kind enough to post my work here as well as many artists that created art work while in Zipolite. Check it out!!

http://www.costachica.net/english/art.htm

I don't have this original anymore, I sold it back in 2001 to the gentleman from Tres Deciembre, you should see if it's there, if you visit Zipolite. They make super delicious pizzas there.

Paper Making- Wish we'd done this in Mexico!!

I have tried to make paper before, but this is explained so wonderfully!I guess I am just super visual and to see it in a video just makes it so simple and clear.

I wish we had done this in Mexico. It would have been great the paper would have dry so fast. Maybe next time!!

Thanks Paper Alice!!
http://paperalice.com

This is such a wonderful and valuable art that you can teach kids and everyone!!

It's a great way to recycle, not so much in Mexico, we didn't see the flyers and millions of papers that pass our way, but here, especially over Christmas in Canada, I thinks it's a fabulous idea, and helps teach kids to be green. :)

In 2001 just after the Zipolite fire, when I was in San Cristobal Las Casas I bought some lovely hand-made paper. Today at Deserres we were looking at the hand-made paper, some of it $6 a sheet. Angel was amazed..."This is paper?"

Tippi- This is What I'm talking about!!

Oh my God! My niece just sent me an email with some gorgeous photos of Tippi as a child. This is definitely the life that Angel and I would enjoy! So beautiful! I can only hope and pray!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tippi_Degr%C3%A9
Tippi Degré
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search

Tippi Degré (born 4 June 1990) is a French girl, who spent her childhood in Namibia among wild animals and tribespeople.[1] After moving to Paris, France with her parents, she returned to Africa to make six nature documentaries for the Discovery Channel. She is known among other things for supervising the tigers in Fort Boyard, off the coast of France, which is the stage for a popular international game show.

Biography

Tippi was born in Namibia, where her parents, Alain Degré and Sylvie Robert, worked as freelance wildlife photographers.[2] She was named after Tippi Hedren.[3] During her stay in Namibia, she befriended wild animals, including a 28-year old elephant Abu, a leopard nicknamed J&B, crocodiles, lion cubs, giraffes, giant bullfrogs and chameleons.[4] She also befriended the Bushmen and the Himba tribespeople of the Kalahari, who taught her how to survive on roots and berries, and to speak their language.[4]

Tippi later moved with her parents to Madagascar and then to France, where she became a celebrity.[5] A book of her adventures (Tippi of Africa, ISBN 978-1868720835) was published and translated in several languages.[6][7] My Book of Africa (ISBN 9781770070295) is a bestselling novel of Tippi's adventurous life in Namibia. She also set up a website, and returned to Africa to make six nature documentaries for the Discovery Channel.[4]

In Paris (France), Tippi attended a local state school for the first two years, but was then homeschooled because she was found to have little in common with the other children in Paris.[4] She is now studying cinema at La Sorbonne Nouvelle University in Paris. [8]
------------------------------------------------------------------
So now as I research Tippi's life, sounds pretty tough, growing up in nature and then trying to fit into a different civilization.

This is a very interesting video, telling how she wants to give back, but sounds like she's been thru a lot trying to fit in and bridge the gap!

Leonardo da Vinci

Please see my views about this video on my other blog http://tinawinterlik.blogspot.com This is pretty graphic in parts, so I hesitate to post it here, but I love the part that he grew up in the countryside and spent his days playin, experimenting and learning about plants, animals and nature. It's a wonderful argument for homeschooling/unschooling.
